We are currently seeking a Medical Technician to oversee medical concerns for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities at our branch in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The Medical Technician will coordinate and ensure that client medical concerns, medical documentation and medications are maintained in accordance with agency/regulation policies and procedures. Work hours for this role are normally Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that doctors' appointments and follow-up appointments are made and clients are taken to their appointments
  • Monitor client medical issues that are listed on ISPs and high risk plans
  • Ensure that staff are knowledgeable of the interventions necessary to implement each care plan
  • Evaluate, revise and monitor clients' medical books and inform staff of any errors or documentation concerns
  • Keep records of prescriptions and other medical documentation
  • Ensure that all clients' needs are assessed and addressed through active medical treatment services
  • Coordinate all medication changes with doctors, make all team members aware of changes, make sure care staff are trained to adapt to any changes and update the Medication Administration Record to match the medication changes
  • Gather medical information each month and write client medical summaries
  • Investigate and provide information for a plan of correction for any incidents involving medical issues

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Experience with SCL Waiver services required
  • Previous experience working with the elderly and/or disabled or must display a compassionate attitude for that constituent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Access to a fully insured and reliable vehicle
