Summary:

The Mental Health Therapist for the Center for Addiction and Pregnancy (under the supervision of the Manager, Treatment Services or the Mental Health Program Supervisor) provides case management and individual and group counseling services to pregnant and post-partum substance abusing women who have also been identified as having a dual diagnosis. Caseloads average 13 to 15. In addition, the MHT leads specific groups targeted for the patient population. The MHT works closely with the other team members (Psych, OB, Peds and Nursing) to coordinate the best care for patients. The MHT is expected to bill 20 hours per week of direct patient care. The MHT is expected to participate in team meetings, individual supervision and morning rounds. A multi-disciplinary focus is essential to the functioning of CAP, and the MHT must support all team decisions. The MHT also facilitates treatment planning in conjunction with the patient.

II. JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a

Master's degree in Psychology, Mental Health or closely related field and no less than six months previous

experience.

  1. Certification and LGPC license required.

3. Work requires the analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or

technical principals.

4. Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
