Job Description

The Metallurgical Engineer conducts a variety of metallurgical tests including setup in accordance with customer specifications, collecting and documenting test process and data, and reporting test outcome. They also manage engineering projects and communicates with clients regarding their testing needs.

  • Performs tests in accordance with company policy and industry and regulatory standards
  • Understands customer orders, follows laboratory technical procedures and test specifications
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of test standards, product test procedures, and instrumentation
  • Interacts with customers during the testing process.
  • Maintains a professional courteous manner with all vendors, contractors, and fellow employees
  • Responsible for the daily review and release of routine metallurgical test requests.
  • Responsible for reviewing completed reports for the accuracy of the data and subject information regarding the sample description.
  • Abides by and ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE), Trade Compliance, and Quality practices, policies, and regulations
  • Maintains customer confidentiality at all times
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) in Engineering AND
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in Metals lab
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Outlook)
  • LIMS & quality program related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge or understanding of industrial welds and welding standards with AWS knowledge and CWI or ability to become a CWI would be a good optional/preferred item.
  • Ability to speak effectively in one-to-one situations with customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concreted variables in standardized situations.
