The Sylvester Cancer Center has an amazing opportunity for a Manager, Business Operations. The Manager, Business Operations evaluates, administers, and manages all business and administrative matters including budget, operations, programs and personnel administration for the assigned department. This position also provides financial analysis and strategic planning as well as manages the budgetary controls in partnership with various levels of management.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Manages, implements, coordinates, plans and evaluates the business operations for the department/division, which may include statistical, performance and managerial reporting, budget support, capital planning, and process improvement.
2. Develops and ensures adherence to department's annual budget, in accordance with University guidelines and policies. Participates in financial analysis and planning including monitoring and reporting on monthly budget variances and opportunities to improve performance.
3. Advances strategic financial plan and makes recommendations to senior management on how to best execute the department's plan.
4. Formulates department policies and guidelines to carry out the University and department mission.
5. Oversees the review, approval and reporting of all expenditures. Reviews and approves financial transactions.
6. Creates and manages support systems to ensure availability of cost effective supplies, equipment, and management information.
7. Monitors contractual obligations and ensures consistency with departmental budget, goals, and programmatic initiatives.
8. Evaluates existing internal controls and approval processes, and makes recommendations on how to improve fiscal integrity and operational efficiency.
9. Implements department human resources actions, which may include hiring, terminations, salary etc. Recruits, trains and prepares performance reports for staff.
10. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Department Specific Functions:

1. Work directly with Office Director and Senior Leadership including Finance, Cancer Center Asst. VP Research Administration to assist in the development of retention business plans, and retention letters for SCCC members.
2. Collaborate with Office Director and recruitment office in tracking SCCC recruitment and retention, develops, tracks and reports on specific requests and projects for leadership meetings.
3. Standardize the development, review, approval and tracking process for all SCCC recruitment and retentions efforts.
4. Collaborate with the Office Director to collect, interpret financial reports and review project Investigator's financial needs for the development and execution of a retention package
5. Identifies resources and/or technology required to successfully execute projects, track and report on all executed and/or status of all retention and recruitment efforts.
6. Coordinates project review, execution, interact with central offices and reports out
7. Assist to performs data retrieval for execution of recruitment and retention plans
8. Consults with internal resources to define project scope, design, and strategy

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

a. High level of accuracy and attention to detail
b. Ability to work in a complex environment with the skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines, establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve stated goals.
c. Fluency in excel, business processes, data collection and reporting.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field.

Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
