Job Description

Position Summary:

  • Perform both technical and personnel aspects of group operations
  • Performing work within the department or other areas as required
  • Act as a technical resource, trainer, and troubleshooter to specific department, make recommendations for operational and/or technical improvements
  • Communicate effectively within the group; coach and develop direct reports, plan and monitor workflow, monitor data and support departmental MOS
  • Demonstrate and strengthen leadership qualities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
  • Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Ensure that the quality policy program is understood, implemented, and maintained; identify, prevent, or correct any departures from the quality system
  • Develop and implement operational improvements
  • Supervise others in performing and meeting client's requirements
  • Coordinate workflow and perform daily monitoring to meet TAT
  • Conduct semi-annual performance reviews, interview applicants, keep training records up to date for assigned employees, evaluate succession plans in preparation for growth
  • Confront and address problems, concerns and performance issues
  • Foster motivation and morale
  • Support and promote company policies and procedures
  • Applies the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrates strong client service skills, teamwork, and collaboration
  • Proactively plans and multitasks to maximize productivity

  • Perform work for both routine and non-routine work as specified by separate and applicable technical job description for individual
  • Coach, train, and develop others within the group with respect to their personal development and effective implementation of operational improvements
  • Conduct semiannual performance reviews, interview applicants, keep training records up to date for assigned employees, perform succession planning in preparation for growth
  • Coach and develop individual and team to maximize performance
  • Monitor and approve employees' time worked through time-entry system
  • Communicates effectively with client staff members
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Continually evaluate systems and processes to help improve overall productivity and quality
  • Support writing investigations and strengthen technical writing skills
  • Monitor direct reports work
  • Understand instrumental and/or analytical theory
  • Troubleshoot and solve both instrumental and method issues
  • Expand self-awareness and develop leadership skills as defined; attend applicable leadership training based on identified needs
  • Perform and/or assign other duties as requested to ensure smooth operation of department
  • Perform all functions in support of and in compliance with all state and federal employment regulations


    Qualifications

    The Ideal Candidate would possess:
    • Ability to direct and monitor work assigned to team members.
    • Communicate effectively with staff and members of other departments.
    • Demonstrate technical writing skills and complete investigations independently
    • Ensures good housekeeping with a neat, clean and orderly workspace
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Understand and perform calculations as required by test methods
    • Understand and utilize computers for information access, calculations, and report preparation
    Must Haves:
    • Hands On Laboratory Experience
    • Experience with USP < 71> forSterility Testing
    • Experience with USP < 85> forBacterial Endotoxin Testing
    Additional strengths would be experience in testing for USP < 51> Antimicrobial Efficacy Testing, and USP chapters < 60>, < 61>, and < 62> for microbial limits testing.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or related degree concentration. Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience

    Additional Information

    Position is full-time,Monday - Friday 8am-5pm.,with additional work, as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Portage, MI area are encouraged to apply.
