Morrison Center for the Performing Arts is Idaho's home for the arts. Nestled on the banks of the Boise River, with a panoramic view of the city, parks and foothills, the Center's 10-story stage house is a recognizable fixture of the Capitol's picturesque skyline. The realization of a life-long dream of Harry W. Morrison, and championed by his widow, Velma, the Center opened its doors on April 7, 1984.

Today the Center is recognized as a major destination for arts and culture, annually hosting hundreds of live entertainment and arts education offerings that serve to enrich the lives of patrons of all ages. As a Boise State affiliate, the Center's budget is supported by ticket sales, facility rentals, donations and the generous support of the Morrison Center Endowment Foundation, Inc. The Center does not receive support from state appropriations. The latest economic impact study for the Morrison Center shows the generation of $27.9M in value to the local and state economy.

Level Scope:
Applies skills and job knowledge in area of specialization; may adapt procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet needs of area of specialization; may work on non-routine tasks; resolves issues/makes working decisions within area of specialization or responsibility with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:
In this role, you will be responsible for providing Administrative Support to the Executive Director and front office staff.

The Morrison Center Administrative Assistant 2 must:

  • Support the Executive Director in building and maintaining high-profile relationships with business and community leaders.
    • Coordinate administrative activities which require frequent contact with executives, the public, other agencies, and campus officials.
    • May attend meetings to relay and collect information.
  • Independently research, analyze, and compile information to prepare reports, handle complaints, or resolve problems.
  • Compose correspondence for supervisor on own initiative or from general instructions; format/type a variety of executive, sensitive, confidential, official, and/or legal letters and documents.
  • Exercise discretion and independence in applying policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the research, compilation, and organization of materials for administrators' use in problem resolution.
  • Responsibility for financial record keeping including monitoring budgets, preparing financial transactions
  • Supervise student support staff or have leadwork responsibilities.
    • May be responsible for ensuring that assignments given to other staff are completed and timelines are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to compose official correspondence, reports, research papers, and other complex documents; providing administrative support to an administrator, director or senior staff member; designing manual and automated record management systems.
  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices; bookkeeping; financial software; state and local government organization structure, functions, and decision-making processes.

Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:
  • Office support functions including word processing; filing.
  • Composing a variety of business documents; reception; and researching, compiling and summarizing data for reports.

Experience in:
  • Interpreting, applying, and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies, or services.
  • Independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting.
  • Coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements.

Score within the top 25 on the exam.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to support the Executive Director in building and maintaining high-profile relationships with business and community leaders.
    • Ability to maintain highly confidential information.
    • Must be a team player, willing to assist with any task that must be accomplished.
  • Pays attention to details and thinks many steps ahead to avoid conflicts.
  • Strong keyboarding skills.
    • Strong skills and ability to quickly learn office tools (ie: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills (both written and oral).
    • Superior proofreading skills.
  • Positive and helpful demeanor.
  • Must love the performing arts.

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range is from $17.48 to $19.23 per hour and is commensurate with experience.
