As part of the growing naval architecture department, you will tackle new and evolving ship design and integration engineering challenges by applying naval architecture principles, techniques, calculations, procedures and criteria. The projects executed within the team cover the full range of ship design phases from conceptual design through detail design, and post-delivery support. Your contributions will directly support the continued maturation of ship design solutions across all phases of design.
The Naval Architect II will support the following areas of design, but not limited to:

  • Hydrostatics (weight estimates, intact/ damage stability assessments)
  • Hydrodynamics (hull design, resistance predictions, seakeeping assessments)
  • Arrangements (general arrangements, compartment outfitting, aviation integration, topside integration)
  • Requirements development
As a Naval Architect II, you will draw upon your experience to evaluate ship design challenges and plan and execute the required solution. You will support the mentor-ship and training of junior staff. Participation in business development activities, including proposal and technical solution development is possible. Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Executing naval architecture analyses.
  • Working with multi discipline teams to support or lead overall ship development and design integration.
  • Support the development trade studies and requirements
  • Preparing and presenting technical reports and engineering documentation.
  • Participating in customer and stakeholder interactions to discuss design progress.
Candidate Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to gain Secret Security Clearance. Active Secret clearance preferred
  • BS or Advanced Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
  • 5 - 8 years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience with naval architecture software tools such as: RHINO, GHS, SHCP, NavCAD, AutoCAD, MS-Office.
  • Proficiency in at least one area.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written, both formal and informal)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills as an independent contributor
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
  • Travel: Low
  • Physical: General Office Setting
