About this opportunity
Cenovus's New Grad Program aims to attract, develop, and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company. The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus's core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.
Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span the US Cenovus's varied business areas. Rotational future assignments could include Total Rewards, HR COE (Learning and Development, Labor Relations, HR Operations, Policy & Governance) and Talent Excellence.
Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business needs and relocation may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes.
  • Aid in the administration of compensation and benefit plans.
  • Maintain lifecycle data with HRIS database.
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of human resource policies.
  • Undertake tasks around performance management.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates.
  • Maintain employee files and records.
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits, and organizing team-building activities.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations.

Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
  • Legally entitled to work in the US
  • Available to begin work June 2024
  • Must have an undergraduate degree in Business administration or a relevant field obtained by May 31, 2024.
  • A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from a post-secondary program is required.
  • Previous Cenovus Energy or Husky Energy student experience is an asset
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; and HRIS systems will be a plus.
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Desire to work as a team with a result-driven approach.
  • Previous HR internship or Co-op experience
  • On-site work environment
  • During the three-year program you could be expected and must be willing to relocate to any of Cenovus's operating sites for your rotations and/or your end-of-program placement
For this position you will be required to maintain a US Driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driving record will be one of the background checks requested in the Pre-employment Screening for the final candidate.
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
