Overview
Under general direction, incumbents must be enrolled in a masters degree program related to the required discipline requested on the task order statement of work.

RESTORE aims to research and develop a range of technical solutions through the use of software engineering, database development, cloud-based application development, and modern technological tools. This development is critical to RESTORE's mission, as it sheds light on software capabilities, compatibilities, and performance as a deployed part. The diverse range of operational and field environments within the Navy and DOD requires RESTORE to ensure that deployed software will operate predictably, reliably, and consistently. This can be achieved by understanding and applying engineering techniques at a graduate-level or above.


Responsibilities
The Contractor shall assist in: Software Engineering, Programming

  • Assist with design, development, and sustainment of a client-facing React web application that displays assets developed by RESTORE from 3-D LiDAR scanning of US Navy Ships and Spaces.
  • Assist with design, development, and sustainment of a Django database that stores data and assets developed by RESTORE from 3-D LiDAR scanning of US Navy Ships and Spaces.
  • Assist with RESTORE’s AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, S3, security, auto deployment, and containerization).
  • Assist with design, development, and sustainment of a WPF/C# desktop application that will be utilized by consumers to update the data and assets in RESTORE’s database.
  • Assist with design, development, and sustainment of a Java-based desktop application aimed to allow users to visualize 3-D LiDAR data in a panoramic view on low specification computers used by the Navy.
  • Assist with design, development, and sustainment of a Python-based computer vision pipeline that uses feature matching to obtain the world camera coordinates of a DSLR image within a 3-D LiDAR panoramic scan.
  • Assist with design, development, and sustainment of software capable of displaying digital twins of Navy Ships and Spaces in augmented reality.
  • Developing software tools for visualization and data analysis in relation to Reality Capture, Mixed Reality, and Cloud-based Application Development.
  • Assist with the incorporation of software security practices within RESTORE’s software projects.



Qualifications
Graduate Student 1: Must have a Bachelor's degree in the required discipline and be enrolled in a Master's degree program. Must be able to accomplish a minimum of 50% of the task without supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Area of Study: Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering major preferred; relevant majors such as Data Science and Software Engineering be suitable given relevant coursework and/or work experience. (Graduate Student).

Required Course Work

• CS 370 Computer Architecture.
• CS 460 Algorithms (Formerly CS 560).
• CS 480 Operating Systems (Formerly CS 570).
• CS 520 Advanced Programming Languages (equivalent to the new CS 420).
• CS 532 Software Engineering.
• CS 210 Data Structures.
• MATH 245 Discrete Mathematics.

Desired Qualifications
  • CS 559 Computer Vision.
  • CS 545 Introduction to Web Application Development.
  • CS 574 Computer Security.
  • Python, Java, C#, JavaScript or web-development or software programming experience.
  • Experience with AGILE methodology.
  • Experience with GIT and version control.
  • Ability to read and implement technical documents or test standards.
  • Comfortable with working independently and in group settings.
  • Flexible with learning new programming languages based on project’s needs.
  • Knowledge in Docker/containers.
  • Experience in deploying software.
  • Experience with cloud computing/architecture (AWS, Azure).
  • Ability to read and implement technical documents or test standards.
  • Independent/self-starter who can.
  • Experience in computer vision.
