Job Purpose:

Elsevier is looking for a Nursing Education Researcher who will play an integral part in a dynamic and growing team that is putting learning sciences, validity, and efficacy research at the core of Nursing and Healthcare Education (NHE) products. This position will be responsible for managing and executing nursing and health professions (HP) research studies for the continuous validation and improvement of Elsevier products that improve learning outcomes.The Nursing Education Researcher will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide updates to assessment, remediation and reporting products based on research findings to enhance product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and conduct foundational and applied research in the area of nursing and HP education and the impact of assessment and remediation products within these disciplines.
  • Build and foster research-practice partnerships with administrators and faculty at higher education institutions.
  • Survey nursing and HP literature for current research articles that include the use of Elsevier assessment and remediation products.
  • Translate and implement research findings into product development for ongoing enhancement and improvement of Elsevier products.
  • Track program outcomes achievement resulting from integration of these products throughout nursing and HP curricula through client communication and survey of the literature.
  • Document and disseminate the results of research projects through white papers, peer-review journal articles, and conference proceedings.
  • Serve as a speaker/presenter at nursing and health professions academic and industry conferences.
  • Consult with content teams that create, maintain and edit test items, exams, and review materials as needed. Substantiate test item rationale and curriculum product content
  • Manage grants awarded to doctoral students. Provide leadership to graduate students working on proposals for assessment and remediation projects. Actively assist students and faculty with manuscript submission to broadly disseminate findings from their research studies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate research activities with psychometrics, data science, and UX teams.


Required Skills, Education, and Competencies:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing (PhD preferred; EdD or DNS acceptable)
  • Active RN license (without any stipulations)
  • Experience designing, conducting, and publishing research on nursing, education, or related topics.
  • Expertise in applying qualitative and qualitative research methods to solve real world problems, and the ability to leverage these methods to impact product design and development.
  • Experience developing evaluation and outcome measures.
  • Strong background in nursing and/or HP research and curricula, methodologies, and understanding of trends and issues in nursing.
  • Teaching experience in an academic nursing or HP education program is desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, including the ability to build andfoster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and translate various tasks into executable plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and tactically.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively summarize and present research findings to diverse groups of stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software programs (e.g. R, SAS).
