Job Description

GM's Design Fabrication Engineering team is looking for a motivated NX Designer with knowledge of fabrication processes and materials to convert early Studio A surface into three dimensional models for fabrication. We need a team player dedicated to a philosophy of designing to simplify assembly and to reduce material costs. This is technical work, but independent judgement and creative initiative are needed to be successful in this role. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!

  • Work directly with Team Leader to understand project requirements
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a group.
  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and use resources to seek quality problems
  • Drive first time quality in the design of models
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with Shop, Project Management, and Studio Personnel
  • Connect with other departments to implement standard methodologies, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives
  • Build designs that control costs and achieve productivity improvements
  • Knowledge of specialty/concept vehicle build and fabrication practices
  • Ability to tackle difficult design problems
  • Willingness to innovate and take measured risks
  • Accept and follow verbal design direction when vital
  • Interpret and analyze work orders, drawings, and parts list
  • Basic understanding of GMS System
  • Must be trainable and open to new concepts and ideas

Qualifications
  • Experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools
  • Experience using and navigating TeamCenter
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills to effectively connect with others in face to face and group situations.
  • Well developed oral and written presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Analytical ability to solve complex problems
  • College degree or equivalent training
  • Knowledge of additional CAD systems
