Hourly Rate: $15.38 per hour

Campus Location: The McMinn Higher Education Center in Athens, Tennessee is the primary workplace for this position. Occasional travel to other locations may be required (i.e. main campus in Cleveland, TN).

Summary

The Office Assistant for CLSCC at the McMinn Higher Education Center is a temporary, part-time position that provides assistance and services to support students and departmental operations. This position performs select clerical and administrative duties while completing some of the essential functions of the department and other departments from across the institution at the off-site location. The Office Assistant works closely with the Director and other team members to support the general and daily operations of this location while ensuring the highest level of customer service to students, internal and external partners, and community members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Answers and manages calls for a multi-line telephone switchboard for CLSCC, TCAT, and UT Extension.

  • Greets students and internal/external guests, ascertaining the nature of business and directs individuals to the appropriate employee(s), office, and/or building space.

  • Provides routine information and schedules appointments as deemed appropriate.

  • Monitors and tracks room reservations.

  • Manage processes for class cancellation notifications from faculty for the off-site location.

  • Manage group email and voicemail processes and communications.

  • Maintains MHEC's student activities budget while assisting with the preparations, promotions (i.e. fliers, CCTV, social media), execution, and reporting outcomes of student events/activities.

  • Assists with social media posts across several platforms for the off-site location.

  • Assists with services such as printing CLSCC student and employee identification cards, payment processing, CougarNet navigation, patron services for library resources and equipment, and other college resources or services.

  • Tracks and maintains various types of job-related data for departmental reporting purposes.

  • Submits internal work order tickets as needed (maintenance, IT, etc.)

  • Manages and monitors lost and found items adhering to established processes.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality customer service in all duties as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the MHEC location.

JOB STANDARDS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary training or education (such as a Certificate or classes toward an Associate degree) in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.

  • Participate in professional development training and certifications as deemed necessary or required.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and higher education software packages (i.e. Banner, StarFish, etc.)

  • Previous customer service experience in a business or educational setting.

  • Demonstrate ability to work well with diverse student populations.

  • Ability to work with college and community constituents.

  • Experience in a community college environment.

  • Occasional evening or weekend hours required.


*This is a temporary position, therefore a comprehensive benefits package is not available.
