Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to serve as clinician educators providing support for UME/GME in classroom and ambulatory settings, telemedicine, and a personal faculty practice. The selected candidate will engage in ongoing faculty development and in scholarly activity. This faculty member will see patients within a resident/faculty practice population in the context of Patient- and Family-Centered Care. The selected candidate will lead the department in activities designed to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for faculty, residents, staff, and patients. They will be the leader in creating a culture of inclusion and act as a resource for the department in addressing questions of equity and inclusion. This position will require someone with a highly positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, creativity and enthusiasm.

This position does not require sufficient teaching, research, or service to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities
Lead the department in matters related to DEI. This will include providing didactic education, arranging outside speakers, critiquing practices/procedures and making suggestions for improvement.
Provide clinical care to patients in the Family Medicine Center.
Educate learners (this includes didactics and clinical teaching).
Provide faculty development.

Required Qualifications
MD or DO. Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Family Medicine Residency Program. Board certified (or board-eligible) by the American Board of Family Medicine, eligible for licensure in Georgia and credentialing at Augusta University Health System. At least 2 years teaching as a family medicine faculty.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience

Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within a medical organization. Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic setting.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.

College/Department Information
The DFCM has an ACGME accredited Allopathic Family Medicine Residency Program, a concurrent AOA accredited Osteopathic Family Medicine residency component, and an ACGME accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. In 2023, will open a Rural Medicine Fellowship with plans for a Geriatric Fellowship and an Addiction Medicine Fellowship to follow in the near future.

Clinical teaching and services occur concurrently in the Family Medicine Center (FMC) and at Augusta University Medical Center within the AU Health System as well as other affiliated local and regional clinical sites. DFCM also runs a community-based clinic in South Augusta as a teaching site and provides medical coverage for a free medical clinic in the Harrisburg neighborhood of Augusta.
