Job Summary:

The Boston CCBHC is a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funded program aimed at increasing access to and improving the quality of community mental health and substance use disorder treatment services. The Boston CCBHC Peer Services Manager will play a critical role in the successful implementation of the CCBHC expansion by facilitating the implementation of recovery-oriented practices within the CCBHC and by providing peer supervision, training, and consultation to the CCBHC Recovery Navigators and to the CCBHC Health and Wellness Coach. The Boston CCBHC Peer Services Manager contributes to Bay Cove's mission by ensuring that CCBHC services are robustly recovery-oriented and that the CCBHC Recovery Navigators and the CCBHC Health and Wellness Coach are competent in their partnering with individuals to reach their personal goals. This is an exempt position.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Oversees the provision of brief interventions in community settings to educate CCBHC members on the availability of behavioral health services and assist CCBHC members with navigating into a sustainable system of care
  • Educates and empowers CCBHC members on behavioral health interventions.
  • Develops systems to ensure collaboration between clients, healthcare providers and human service agencies to reduce barriers to care and assures clients receive the care they need when they need it
  • Ensures the assessments of health risk and service needs are recovery oriented and include an assessment of members' strengths, preferences and preferred family and community supports.
  • Collaborates closely with SAMHSA grant contracted Designated Collaborating Organizations and ensures appropriate referrals based on level of care needed to optimize outcomes
  • Performs assessment of member's eligibility for entitlement programs (ie MassHealth, SSI,SSDI) and assists member with making linkages to a sustainable system of care
  • Organize and facilitate the effective functioning of the member's CCBHC care team, including coordinating meetings, facilitating communication and documentation as needed.
  • Provides coaching and support to clients as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements for the Position:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field required.
  • A High School diploma or GED plus two years direct care experience providing services to adults and families with mental health issues or related populations can be substituted for the above degree requirements with a preference for individuals with lived experience.
  • Current certification as a Certified Peer Specialist.
  • At least 3 years experience providing peer supports.
  • Experience in working with the target population of the Boston CCBHC; low income, uninsured and underinsured adults with serious mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders and children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to use one's own personal experiences and recovery story with the purpose and intent to build trust and develop collaborative relationships with Persons.
  • Demonstrated ability to model behaviors and attitudes consistent with a recovery-oriented culture and to educate staff members around recovery principles
  • Professional writing and oral communications skills.
  • Possesses knowledge of substance abuse assessment, recovery principles
  • High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
  • Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.
