Description:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist or their designee, with providing support for patients receiving specialty pharmaceuticals within the Loyola University Health System. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will be responsible for processing new and refill specialty orders including verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, assisting patients with reimbursement issues, continuous follow-up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers aware of prescription processing.

What you will need:

Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education

Preferred: Associates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education

Specify Degree(s): Pharmacy Technician

Minimum Experience:

Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience

Details: Retail pharmacy technician; experience with adjudicating prescription drugs, corresponding with insurance companies and processing payments, STRONGLY preferred. Familiarity with specialty pharmacy products and operations preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

Illinois Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Preferred: N/A

Other:

Exception: Certification required within six months if two or more years' Specialty Pharmacy Tech experience.
