Wellstar Medical Group is actively seeking a BE/BC Breast Surgeon to join a well-established practice and comprehensive program with an existing referral base and strong community need. Candidates should be competent in the latest surgical protocols in the treatment of cancer, including minimally invasive surgery, possess excellent clinical skills, and a dedication to providing quality and compassionate patient centered care.

The selected candidate will be a key team member for Wellstar's Comprehensive Breast Health Program. The cancer program has CoC (Commission on Cancer) from the American College of Surgeons. The Breast Surgery practice is located on the North Fulton Hospital campus, with a full complement of ancillary administrative and clinical staff to ensure timely and adequate patient care. The practice also participates in a multidisciplinary breast cancer STAT clinic.

About North Fulton Medical Center:

  • Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center provides state-of-the-art medical, surgical, and nursing care in a 218-bed facility.
  • Wellstar was the first breast center in Georgia to be granted a full three-year accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
  • Dedicated breast surgeons, who practice state-of-the-art care, including minimally invasive biopsy procedures and less invasive surgery for breast cancer.
  • Cutting-edge digital imaging, including dedicated breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the ability to perform minimally invasive image-guided breast biopsies.
  • Clinical trials-more than 200 patients are currently enrolled in Wellstar programs.
  • A comprehensive support network for cancer patients and their families, that includes counseling, cosmetic support for the side effects of treatment, lymphedema prevention and management, and exercise programs designed for better health.
  • Wellstar breast surgeons are part of a team, including your oncologist, who will recommend treatment tailored to your condition and prognosis. Patients have access to the most advanced digital imaging technology, facilities and a team of skilled breast specialists in surgery, radiology, pathology and oncology.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will:

• Provide excellent patient care in the ambulatory and inpatient settings.

• Perform surgical procedures include mastectomies, lumpectomies, excisional biopsies, and infusaport placement for chemotherapy, axillary surgery including sentinel lymph node biopsy and axillary dissection, oncoplastic closures

• Document clinical notes in the electronic medical record. Wellstar currently uses Epic.

• At times have the opportunity to provide education to residents and medical students

• Provide appropriate call coverage

o No general surgery call

o No ER call except for already established patients. Nurse practitioners take first call.

• Perform intraoperative radiation, Cyberknife

• Occasionally perform and consistently read breast ultrasounds. To assist with our patient care needs, sonographers are members of our in-office team.

Qualifications:

Board Certified/Board Eligible with Georgia Medical License

Experience in ultrasound, ultrasound biopsy, and stereo biopsy

Proficient in benign and malignant breast surgery including oncoplasty
