Job Description:


POSITION: Full-Time PK12 STEM Tech Coordinator: Special Programs Coordinator; PK12 Partnerships; Haverhill Campus; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm; Pay Grade 4, Grant Funded Position


SUMMARY: The PK12 Partnerships department serves regional high schools to create Early College and dual enrollment opportunities across the Merrimack Valley under the leadership of the Associate Dean.


STEM Tech Career Academies is new initiative in Massachusetts that aims to combine and extend key elements of designated Early College and Innovation Pathways programs.


The PK12 STEM Tech Coordinator will work with students and partners from Haverhill High School to promote access and success in the STEM Tech Career Academy. Central to the role is the desire empower students through self-reflection and engagement in their learning process, to build a community of STEM Tech scholars, and helping students navigate their experience as participants in the program. The position monitors progress of STEM Tech students from early college through associates degree completion, provides outreach and responds to partner and student need, supports recruitment and retention efforts, and provides regular progress and partnership updates to the PK12 Team and partner high school. A primary function of this role is to develop relationships with students, families and partners, and work collaboratively across various NECC departments and with community partners to ensure grant objectives and outcomes are met.


With a goal of building a robust STEM Tech Academy experience that culminates in the completion of an NECC degree and preparing students for careers, the STEM Tech Coordinator will assist and connect STEM Tech Academy students throughout their journey with essential college resources, develop specific interventions, supports and workshops as needed, and build and execute specific STEM Tech programmatic elements including but not limited to mentoring and work-based learning opportunities.


RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties for this position include:


  • Assist the Associate Dean in management of the partnership and day to day operation of STEM Tech Academy with the school district partner.
  • Serve as liaison between STEM Tech Career Academy and departments at NECC, including academic departments, student affairs, institutional effectiveness, and PK12 Partnerships
  • Support PK12 staff and high school partner with administering student-and-family engagement events and college awareness activities, information sessions, and student registrations
  • Facilitate student orientations to prepare students for college course taking
  • Collaborate with high school partner on student recruitment
  • Participate on high school committees and advisories as applicable
  • Develop and execute articulation agreements as required
  • Maintain and review course sequencing at both the high school and college level
  • Collaborate with career services on work-based learning workshops for STEM Tech Academy students
  • Develop and implement opportunities for career-focused mentoring
  • Implement and develop as needed, sequenced and appropriate career development education activities
  • Maintain and track progress on completion of work-based learning requirements
  • Work closely with pertinent Academic Deans to develop relationships with employers and companies and identify relevant internship sites; assist with placement as necessary and provide ongoing support while in placements.
  • Collaborate with support services staff at the college such as tutoring, accessibility services, advising and enrollment services and facilitate connections for early college students to ensure access to campus resources
  • Support students with job placement post STEM Tech completion
  • Plan, develop, and deliver in coordination with PK12 Team a series of relevant workshops and activities designed to support college course access and success and early college retention in the appropriate modalities according to program and partner need
  • In collaboration with PK12 Coordinators, monitor EC students' early alert notifications, and reach out to students and faculty to assist students in addressing the issue and resolve the alert.
  • Collect and review data to inform retention, community building, and support strategies.
  • Meet with students in one on one and small group settings to understand student need, problem solve, and deliver academic support as needed.
  • Maintenance of policies and procedures associated with Early College program and STEM Academy
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of academic degree requirements, transfer requirements, certificate program requirements and develop knowledge of NECC systems/portals?
  • Regularly meet with School district administrators to execute annual program timelines and provide student support.
  • Maintain student records to ensure students are following assigned course sequencing and meeting objectives laid out by grant requirements
  • Maintain confidential data and abide by all laws and policies that govern student privacy.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of varying racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, disability, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with a diversity of learning styles.
  • Assist in the collection of data and reporting and with other office-related duties.
  • Support and assist in meeting various grant objectives.
  • Anticipate and help meet student needs accurately, professionally and with a commitment to partner relationships.
  • Collaborate with industry partners as needed
  • Responsible for working cross-functionally with other teams, building partner relationships, and other special projects, as necessary.
  • Participate in professional-development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; with three (3) years of experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, program/project management or administrative work in an academic environment/ or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience compiling, maintaining, analyzing student data.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to connect with as well as design and implement programming for students.
  • Demonstrated experience working with various stakeholders
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment with both the high school partner and NECC
  • Ability to travel between campuses, school districts and off-site location as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience working in community college and/or high school.
  • Experience with college level academic advising
  • Experience working with virtual and hybrid educational technologies preferred.
  • Experience working with English Learners strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:


GRADE AND SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $57,249.00 - $62,448.00 (MCCC Pay Grade 4 with a Bachelor's degree) annually with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
