Safely monitor and perform preventive maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations, minor adjustments, etc.
  • Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
  • Identify, record, and report equipment deterioration for replacement or repair
  • Perform routine safety inspections
  • Maintain accurate, updated preventative maintenance records
  • Assist drivers in completion of the daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspection process
  • Identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting heavy duty equipment and company vehicles
  • Communicate issues with maintenance technicians/managers/drivers on company vehicles and discuss preventative techniques that may minimize future repairs
  • Ensure CSA violations are identified and fully repaired prior to releasing equipment to operations
  • Assist other mechanics with repairs as requested by supervisor
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established techniques to perform job duties
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired, but not required.
  • Mechanical and tire maintenance or repair experience.
  • Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Must have own tools appropriate for the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
  • Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.

Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
  • Continuous concentrated mental and visual attention required.
  • Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent physical effort including handling tools and equipment required.
  • Frequently lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Occasionally work in high precarious places.
  • Work environment is usually loud.
