The Zoetis Global Therapeutics Research group is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Post -Doctoral epigeneticist (Chromatin Immunoprecipitation 'ChIP' focus) to contribute towards discovery and development of novel therapies. The team works across various therapeutic areas and is geared to understanding the immunological basis of chronic inflammation, infectious/non-infectious disease and host-pathogen interactions in order to identify, evaluate and progress therapeutic targets and substrates for companion animals and livestock.

Responsibilities:

•Develop, adapt, and implement new epigenetic research techniques and ChIP protocols for ChIP-Seq and other related approaches

•Perform routine and complex, specialized, laboratory procedures including chromatin/methylated DNA isolation and ChIP-Seq for investigators

•Characterize altered immune cells relevant to disease targets and conduct epigenomic characterization

•Work closely with the Mechanistic Biology, Genetics/Bioinformatics, Mass Spec/PDMA/Bioanalytical teams to provide expert advice/service in ChIP-Seq-related experimental design and to implement quality controls to assure high scientific standards

Basic Qualifications:

Suitable candidates will have a PhD in Epigenetics or related biomedical/biology area with a focus on ChIP e.g. histone modifications and transcription factors immunoprecipitation assays. Have extensive experience with chromatin immunoprecipitation, and enthusiasm to learn ChiP-Seq data analysis/bioinformatics to address biological questions and disease-relevant investigative research. Have ability to work independently in research projects within area of specialization. They must also be a creative/independent thinker and with a track record of research in genomics/epigenomics and peer reviewed publications.

Desired Skill sets:

•In-depth knowledge of epigenetics and extensive hands-on experience in ChIP assay development and expertise with standard assay formats (e.g. chromatin isolation, fragmentation, agarose gel electrophoresis, immunoprecipitation, etc.).

•In-depth knowledge in DNA/RNA/protein isolation from tissue/cell-based assay systems

•Familiarity with total histone isolation, SDS-PAGE, histone modification assays, qPCR or RNASeq, and isolation of methylated DNA and downstream sequencing

•Broad knowledge in utility/application of epigenetics for either identification of therapeutic targets or identification and application for biomarkers in efficacy/safety studies.

•Familiarity with immunological concepts and techniques (in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro)

•Familiarity/interest in learning next-generation sequencing (Illumina Sequencing), ChIP-Seq data analysis (mapping, peak finding, motif analysis, gene ontology analysis, etc.)
