Postdoctoral Position (Sensors)

Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School

A postdoctoral research fellowship position is available in the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. This appointment will be at the rank of postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School. Massachusetts General Hospital's role as a leading teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School with close ties to Harvard University and MIT provides an outstanding environment for developing and translating new optical technologies with applications in biology and medicine.

The position will focus on the development and application of wearable optical chemical, gas, and physiological sensors for both animal and human studies. The Evans laboratory is actively developing new chemistry and technologies to measure physiological parameters including tissue oxygenation, including bandages, wearable devices, and indwelling sensors. The goal of this research is to create new clinical tools and methods for solving challenging problems in physiology, wound healing, and emergency and field medicine.

This position will be highly interdisciplinary, spanning from wearable/mobile optics, sensor design and implementation, electronics and circuit design, prototyping, and carrying out hands-on animal and human studies. A large component of this position will involve directly working with clinical and research partners, including both startup and large multinational companies. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative candidate with expertise in sensor development, optics, engineering, or electrical engineering. Prior experience developing chemical or optical sensors, developing or implementation circuits, or translational research is a requirement for applicants.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or related fields is required. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following fields: sensors, wearable sensors, chemical sensors, optical sensors, circuit design and implementation, or translational research.

Contact:

Interested candidates should send their detailed CV, a cover letter describing training and research experience, and the names and contact information of three references. Please address correspondence to Dr. Conor Evans, and send by email to Dr. Evans with the subject of "Sensors Postdoctoral Position" to both evansgroup@mgh.harvard.edu and achao5@partners.org.
