GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Mannstadt in the Endocrine Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). MGH is a Harvard Medical School (HMS)-affiliated hospital. This is a full-time position with an affiliated Research Fellow appointment proposed at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Employment is contingent upon successful completion of professional credentialing by the MGH Registrar/Credentialing Unit and final appointment by the Trustees of the Hospital to the Staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mannstadt laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms controlling the development and function of parathyroid glands, which produce parathyroid hormone that regulates calcium and phosphate homeostasis. We employ wide-ranging techniques to study parathyroid in vitro and in vivo. A major focus of the laboratory is to understand the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells towards parathyroid cells. These studies will lead to an improved understanding of parathyroid function and have important implications for treating parathyroid diseases.
