Thomas Jefferson School of Law invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest in the position of President and Dean of the law school. The law school seeks an innovative, inspirational CEO who can leadthe institution successfully in the areas of strategic planning, academic and financial management, development, and student recruitment. It is anticipated that the appointment of the next President and Dean will be effective in the summer of 2024.

The Law School

Thomas Jefferson School of Law is an independent law school with an attractive, modern campus located in the heart of San Diego, California. It offers a program of legal education leading to the J.D. degree, as well as two LL.M. programs. Students may enroll full-time or part-time and they may attend classes in the day or the evening. The law school also offers a 100% online program that leads to the J.D. degree. The law school is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission and by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State of California. Founded in 1969, the law school has graduated more than 7000 alumni.

The Position

The President and Dean is the chief executive officer of the law school, reporting directly to the Board of Trustees and bearing responsibility for all aspects of the law school's operation. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

• A visible, energetic, trusted leader who can inspire faculty, staff, students, alumni, and members of the legal community Possession of a vision for the long-term success of the law school Experience with strategic planning Familiarity with academic administration and an understanding of the current trends in, and the challenges facing, legal education Ability to manage compliance and relationships with multiple accreditors Knowledge of law school admissions and recruitment Skilled financial manager, including the ability to read and understand financial statements and, working with the Chief Financial Officer, compile a budget and monitor the law school's finances Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving Data-driven decision-making style including with respect to the assessment of student outcomes Commitment to academic excellence and a student-centered institution Commitment to the law school's mission of providing access to legal education for a diverse community of students in an inclusive, supportive, and collegial environment Ability to serve as an advocate for the law school within the local community, engage with alumni, and raise funds Approachable, congenial, and empathetic Operates with integrity, transparency, and a willingness to consider multiple perspectives Strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, and writing Efficient and effective manager and administrator with an ability to delegate Availability to work full-time on the law school's San Diego campus J.D. or equivalent required
