RESPONSIBILITIES

On a global scale, Wood serves the Life Sciences, Oil & Gas, Federal, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Mining, and Power Industries. Our Morrisville, NC office has become the Center of Excellence for our global Life Sciences network, providing full-service pharmaceutical and biotechnology engineering, design, procurement, and project management services.

We're looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual with the ability to assist all phases of project design. Project sizes will vary and will include both existing building improvements and new construction. Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative are important for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing process flow diagrams to define heat and material balance(s)
  • Establishing a process design basis, developing process options, and optimization of selected design(s)
  • Prepares reports on their assignments and makes recommendations on the solution of technical problems within the scope of assignment.
  • Designing and creating Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Assist with the specification and selection of process equipment (chromatography columns, pressure vessels, bioreactors, filtration skids) to meet project criteria
  • Calculating loads for clean utilities, line sizing, and distribution design (water for injection, clean steam, process gases)
  • Maintaining effective communication with project team members
  • Calculating and organizing data for other disciplines such as instrument data for I&C or electrical loads
  • Assists more experienced Process Engineers with specific aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy by a Senior Engineer
  • Review of submittals and shop drawings


QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications
  • BS or MS in chemical/mechanical/bioengineering from an accredited university
  • AutoCAD and Process Modeling experience a plus
  • Experience within Life Science Industry preferred
  • Knowledge of cGMPs preferred
  • Acceptance of a hybrid working environment (employees come into the office 3 days a week at a minimum)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative
