This position is part of the Vibrational Spectroscopy business within Chemical Analysis Division (CAD). Thermo Fisher is a market leader in analytical instrumentation involving vibrational spectroscopic analysis of molecular structure. The Product manager will be a member of product teams from the Madison, Wisconsin facility.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a product manager with a passion and curiosity to discover new ways to improve our customer's success using our vibrational spectroscopy instruments and software. Vibrational Spectroscopy has growing demand in process analytical technology applications across pharmaceutical, semi/electronics, chemical, and food/beverage industries. In this role you will contribute to the success of our customers by delivering solutions that have a substantial impact on their work. The ideal candidate will drive growth for the portfolio by investigating and accelerating attractive new market opportunities through engagement with customers, key opinion leaders and commercial teams globally. A key aspect of the role will be to develop outstanding customer solutions through differentiated products and workflows which meet the needs of a diverse customer base. You will be ideally positioned to take the lead in identifying product differentiators that resonate broadly, developing positioning for a broad range of applications, pricing and product lifecycle management. Responsibilities include market sensing, customer communications, contributing to product quality, and revenue forecasts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage worldwide supply, demand, revenue, margin and pricing for the Process spectroscopy product portfolio.
  • Manage collaborations with commercial partners and key customers to drive growth in Pharmaceutical, Chemical and semi/electronics manufacturing segments.
  • Analyze market trends, customer requirements and competitive strategy, and seek opportunities for growing customer and business value through product differentiation.
  • Represent the customer perspective in the new product development process from concept through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements and value proposition, formulating and communicating global launch plans including commercialization strategy, public presentations, competitive analysis, forecasting and positioning.
  • Provide product-specific technical and marketing support to field sales organizations and channel partners.
  • Contribute to overarching Vibrational Spectroscopy process product strategy and roadmap.
  • The selected candidate shall be a strong leader within cross-functional teams developing the right product to fill market needs, and will focus on accelerating customer success by interacting w/ functional partners including R&D, Manufacturing, Market Development, Finance, Customer Services, Quality and Regulatory associates.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S./B. A.) in a Chemistry, Material Science or engineering related field from a four-year college or university or higher degree
Experience
  • 5+ years experience in industrial product management, product applications and OEM Business Development role
  • 5+ years experiences in spectroscopy industrial process applications and implementation.
  • Expert in industrial automation protocol and Chemometrics model development
  • Experience in industrial gas analysis is a plus.

  • Knows how to convert market intelligence into valued added features and products.
  • Comfortable working with highly technical scientists and engineers as well as customers
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to step back and analyze the overall business impact and act with accountability.
