Job Summary
As part of a $70M+ manufacturer of fluid management solutions & technology for the Medical industry, the Process Tech Trainee is responsible for supporting the Production Supervisor with the day-to-day activity and performance of the packaging team, focused on exceeding customer expectations while meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) focused around safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity. This position will provide leadership to the team by supporting the planning, communication, and distribution of workload, while monitoring for any issues, and implementing strong problem-solving skills to support production. The Process Tech Trainee will use strong communication to drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement, supporting the training and successful execution of the team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the Production Supervisor in driving engagement in safety vision, Journey to Zero, to prevent incidents through focus on unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Drives safety policies, practices, programs, and initiatives to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Supports the planning and execution of product distribution activities through the utilization of manpower, skills, and processes to ensure on-time delivery and quality standards are achieved daily.
  • Plans and facilitates daily huddles leveraging visual daily management to review safety information, department metrics, and daily objectives with the team.
  • Executes to a sales forecast leading the priorities of the production area to optimize daily output. Utilizes ERP system to optimize throughput while achieving the highest efficiency.
  • Ensures proper training of, and adherence to, all operating procedures, quality standards, and efficiency goals.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for assembly & packaging for technical and process related questions.
  • Participate and support continuous improvement activities within the department inclusive of engaging teammates in initiatives and documenting new procedures.
  • Collaborates with supervisor and other departments as required to support new product introductions
  • Ability to adjust schedule as needed to support department overtime.
  • Ability to adjust staffing as needed by the hour.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate Degree in Operations or related field is a plus.

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite and ERP system
  • Organized, detail-orientated self-starter that can lead the team with a customer focus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time and accuracy pressures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in support of problem solving and troubleshooting
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Production Environment
  • Capable of frequently standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching throughout the course of 8-10-hour shift in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have finger and hand dexterity to set-up, troubleshoot, and operate machinery including repetitive motion activities
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must wear clean room attire, shop gown, protective gloves, hair net, facial hair net, and disposable face mask.

Base Salary Range for this position is $21.50; shift premium may be available depending on shift associated with the specific job opportunity. Benefits include Medical, Rx, Vision, Dental, and Health Savings Account (HSA), Retirement and Security benefits including 401k and Life Insurance. In addition to Paid Time off and paid Holidays, each employee receives 16 hours paid time each calendar year to perform volunteer services for Nordson-sponsored events.
