Blue Cross of Idaho is looking for an experienced Procurement Category Manager within the healthcare industry. Our Procurement Category Managers lead and perform competitive bidding work to minimize risk and optimize the value of materials and services acquisition. They collaborate with internal business partners to execute supplier negotiations, contracting, and manage supplier relationships and contract performance.

This position can be remote within a mutually acceptable location. #LI-Remote, #LI-Hybrid

To be considered for this opportunity, you have:

Experience: Fiveyears' (for level II) or Seven years' (for level III) supply chain experience, to include strategic sourcing within health insurance or health-related industry

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)

What your day may look like:

  • Establish and lead the competitive bidding, negotiation and contracting processes while incorporating cost savings targets and plans.
  • Coordinate preparation and execution of request for competitive bidding events. Collect, assess, and finalize RFx conclusions, including supplier selection and notification.
  • Coordinate preparation, analysis, and the execution of contract documents.
  • Negotiate contract performance standards and service level agreements into contracts and understands supplier performance against those agreements.
  • Partner with a team of internal business owners and partners, developing the overall plan and demand of competitive bidding and contracting opportunities. Research and recommend appropriate suppliers, in partnership with business owners and partners. Complete new supplier qualifications to support negotiations/category strategies.
  • Serves as focal point for supplier concerns and management of escalated issues, involving senior leaders where appropriate.
  • May ensure supplier performance is monitored, reported, and operates within a continuous improvement process, as contracted.
  • For assigned business areas, coordinate regularly scheduled business reviews.
  • Be a key contact for the enterprise for supplier, market, and negotiation techniques and practices.
