Job Purpose:Reporting to the Procurement Director, the Procurement Specialist coordinates Winthrop's routine service procurement functions; assists with the procurement of complex goods and services; and contributes to the department's efforts to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the university's procurement processes.
Job Summary:High school diploma and four years of professional experience directly related to procurement. An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary:Knowledge/understanding of procurement and property management and inventory control functions. Knowledge of the rules, regulations and provisions of the South Carolina Consolidated Procurement Code or the ability to quickly learn and apply them. Excellent organizational skills. Sufficient technical ability to perform job duties at a high level, including proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Excel, Banner, and Internet research. Ability to perform data entry in a timely manner and with minimal errors; provide exceptional customer service; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, vendors and the general public.
