Our Hydro Flask Team is based in breathtaking Bend, Oregon. There is a desert to the East of town and mountains to the West. Our geography says a lot about who we are. We bike, ski, swim, do yoga, run, hike, and play outside. We grill and share kombucha and growlers in our backyards. We go for it wholeheartedly. That may sound like the weekend, but that is how we live every day of the year. We also offer a casual and dog-friendly environment!

This position is based in Bend, OR (hybrid work onsite and from home).

What you'll be doing:

The Product Developer is responsible for developing commercially viable and consumer relevant products that are leading in design, innovation, function, and quality. The Developer will play a meaningful role as a team member in the product creation process, responsible for coordinating projects from brief to final confirmation of product. You will partner with the Category Lead, Industrial Design, External Agencies, and overseas Development/Manufacturing to deliver product, margin, and quality objectives while meeting calendar deadlines. Key focus areas include product definition, product execution, supply chain development and support and system development and product life cycle support.

  • Build, evolve, and maintain product definition through the entire product lifecycle; Support lifecycle management projects and cost engineering activities
  • Own on time delivery of product definition to support key Go-To-Market (GTM) achievements and project deliverables
  • Define and own test plan to ensure that relevant testing is identified and completed as needed to support project timelines
  • Create documents such as product tech packs, design packages; build/consolidate the specification of products including Bill of Materials, costing, and dimensional data; record, track, communicate, and verify accurate specifications across all departments
  • Actively participate and support Product/Project Manager in project plan and timeline creation; partner with Product Manager to deliver product, margin, and quality objectives while meeting timelines; Work as part of the product team to develop, refine, prototype, and test product concepts
  • Collaborate with Category Lead and Product Manager to build and define business process/best practices surrounding soft goods product development
  • Handle tooling return on investment process for relevant projects
  • Manage development of samples, including complete development sample tracking process, to ensure samples arrive on-time to meet deadlines
  • Lead vendor sampling and communication; Serve as primary point of communication between product team, APO, and vendor partners on all development details
  • Support the coordination and implementation of change for in line products as needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of current materials, manufacturing techniques, and vendor capability


Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Demonstrated record of problem solving and implementing corrective action
  • Ability to effectively communicate to leadership and team members
  • Familiar with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years proven experience working in a technical soft goods product development role
  • Shown history of successful development and commercialization of soft goods
  • Strong background and experience in working directly with international factories and suppliers
  • Experience with product and material testing
  • Experience with technical documentation and Quality Assurance process
  • Solid understanding of development processes. Including coloring, lab dips, measurement standards, fabrics, trims, and construction methods
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator MS Office: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Textiles, Apparel Design, Engineering, or related fields
  • Experience with business communications in global multi-cultural vendor networks
