General Purpose:

As the Production Manager you will be responsible for assisting in the coordination and management of the Production Department. This includes implementation of continuous improvement efforts, development of hourly and salaried team members, as well as assistant with the management of departmental KPI's. This person also needs to foster teamwork consistent with our Vision, Mission and Core Values as well as maintain a positive work environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Production Supervisors in the performance of operations according to sound operating principles
  • Report to the Operations Manager when delays occur, estimate time of delay, and when operations will be resumed. Anticipate and determine causes of delay in shift operation, work with maintenance to prioritize repairs to minimize downtime
  • Develop and mentor Production Supervisors
  • Maintain proper staffing to minimize downtime
  • Assist with utilization of Strategic Planning in determining future needs of the operation
  • Problem-solve and troubleshoot operational issues
  • Assist with development of plans around meeting established KPI goals.
  • Maintain compliance with quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures relative to plant and customer, governmental, and auditing agencies
  • Maintain compliance with plant safety standards and policies regarding OSHA safety regulations
  • Review production costs and make suggestions to the Plant Operations Manager to control those costs
  • Participate actively in personnel matters and deal with employee problems and complaints
  • Maintain and support prescribed programs of employee relations, health and safety, training and development, compensation and benefits for employees of the department.
  • Assist with adherence of housekeeping, safety, general maintenance, and preventive maintenance matters
  • Support other Managers and Supervisors
  • Develop a highly involved workforce with visible floor presence on a daily basis
  • Participate in the interview process; review and conduct probationary and annual performance evaluations
  • Backup the Plant Operations Manager position in their absence
  • Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follows all DFA GMP's and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience
  • BA / BS Degree
  • 5 - 7 years managerial experience in a manufacturing industry. Food or Bottling experience preferred.

Licensing and Certifications
  • Holding a certificate of completion from a certified FDA Better Process School at time of hire a plus, but not required. Certification must be obtained within the first 12-months of employment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to employ, lead and direct continuous improvement concepts to move site's culture forward
  • Clear communications, arithmetic, technical reading, computer skills (word, excel, charts, SAP, KRONOS timekeeping), organized, relationship building, ability to present professional presentations
  • Understanding of facility utility infrastructure and its impact to production throughput
  • Effective human resources relations skills, including good listening ability and the capability to convince others to establish or change precedents
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and action-plan
