I.

JOB SUMMARY:




The position of production planner for American Woodmark Corporation (AWC) entails working with manufacturing to create production plans that balance production capacity with forecasted customer demands. Provide support to the company's inventory and service level objectives. This position will report directly to the Director of Planning.




II.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:




· Collaborate with manufacturing groups on capacity and production requirements by reviewing system generated information and messages.

· Collaborate with purchasing on material requirements to support the production plans such as schedule changes from demand spike.

· Responsible for reviewing and analyzing MRP (material requirements planning) to support lower level scheduling requirements.

· Ensure the system parameters used in planning are correct to get the desired service and inventory levels. This includes capacity, lead-time, order policy, forecasts, safety stock levels and other types of parameters.

· Ensure the resulting recommendations are being followed on a routine basis (daily, weekly, or whatever is appropriate) and balance customer needs, material availability, Supplier capacity and inventory requirements.

· Monitor Suppliers for completion of the schedule and work with Logistics for distribution of product.

· Ability to analyze forecast and production data to determine the impact throughout the organization.

· Work with all departments to maintain high inventory accuracy levels and exemplary customer satisfaction.

· Resolve quality issues with purchased materials and deploy corrective process improvements.

· Act as the main liaison between Operations and Suppliers on a day-to-day basis.

· Expedite/status parts from internal organizations and other company facilities.

· Accomplish special projects and other assignments/duties as required by management.

· Consistently deliver the best in customer service. As an employee, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with customers, visitors and other employees.

· Champion AWC's mission, vision and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:




Education:



Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field from an accredited college or university

APICS certification a plus




Experience:

5 - 10 years of experience in manufacturing planning and operations or equivalent combination of education and experience

Previous experience in the wood products industry (cabinetry or furniture) preferred but not required

Previous experience in JDEdwards OneWorld ERP system desirable




Skills:

Must have an understanding of MRP terminology to support system setups and engineering change orders.

Must have a good understanding of bill of material structuring and the use of effective date.

Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize work tasks

Possess "Big Picture" Operations knowledge.

Must be able to work with all departments within AWC in order to be effective.

Excellent time management skills to manage high volume in a fast-paced environment.

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and customers.

Must be team & people oriented, professional and displays a "can-do" attitude.

MRP knowledge required

Skilled in using MSOffice/Windows in a networked PC environment.

Ability to be flexible and calm under sometimes tense conditions.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:




Typical Working Conditions: (Describe environment including exposure to heat, cold, fumes, chemicals, allergens, mold, etc.)

Climate controlled office environment with visits to warehouse/manufacturing environment. Occasional traveling
