Advertised Job Summary:The College of Engineering and Computing at the University of South Carolina is in the process of expanding its tenured and tenure-track ranks significantly in the next several years. As part of this growth, the Department of Electrical Engineering is looking for dynamic tenured and tenure-track faculty members for Fall 2024.

Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank must possess a PhD degree in electrical engineering or a related field by the time of appointment, plus demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research. Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor and Full Professor must also have years of relevant academic experience commensurate with academic policy, plus a strong, sustained record of excellence in teaching and research, including competitive funding and interdisciplinary collaborations.
We seek candidates with expertise and/or established track records in the power and energy systems area and especially candidates who use AI to advance knowledge and discovery in their research field. Examples of research areas include but are not limited to: Distribution Grid Design and Operation, Bulk Grid Planning and Operation, Energy Conversion, and Power Electronics Converters and Systems.
The University is also a partner in the management and operation of the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River National Laboratory with a goal of expanding collaborative research partnerships and developing the advanced workforce for the Lab. Therefore, the Department is interested in applicants whose programs will support DOE priorities in energy security, national security, and sustainability.
