The Disparities Solutions Center (DSC) within the Mongan Institute of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a full time Project Coordinator to coordinate and evaluate a variety of projects related to Initiative 4 in the MGH Structural Equity 10-pt plan: Assuring equity in access to and delivery of clinical care.

The DSC is dedicated to the development and implementation of strategies that advance policy and practice to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health care. The DSC will achieve this mission by:

  • Serving as a change agent by developing new research and translating innovative research findings into policy and practice
  • Developing and evaluating customized policy and practice solutions for health care providers, insurers, educators, community organizations, and other stakeholders
  • Providing education and leadership training to expand the community of skilled individuals dedicated to eliminating health care disparities

Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator will oversee management and implementation of a wide variety of projects related to assuring equity in access to, and delivery of clinical care. This may include the following:
  • Coordinate activities Equity in Clinical Care Council: manage collaborative working groups on hospital-based disparities initiatives with clinicians and senior leaders across the hospital.
  • Write IRB research protocols for all DSC research projects and improvement initiatives; manage continuing review applications and other related IRB processes.
  • Oversee and coordinate evaluation activities for quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist senior staff with grant writing, research publications, and final grant reports
  • Manage multiple project timelines and assure that project deliverables are completed on-time


Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a health-related field preferred with 2-4 years post-Master's work experience in health care
  • Knowledge of and interest in racial/ethnic disparities in health care, and previous work experience with health care research and/or health care disparities preferred
  • The ideal candidate for this position is someone with a high degree of professionalism, who is highly organized, detail oriented and creative, and who has the ability to complete tasks on-time.
  • Must have strong project management and implementation skills, including the ability to keep a team on track to achieve goals
  • Must have good evaluation and data collection skills, including experience designing and conducting needs assessments, conducting key informant interviews and focus groups, and quantitative data analysis
  • Must have strong writing skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people to collaboratively complete projects
  • Ability to independently lead projects under the supervision of a faculty member, as well as work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Must be able to multitask, take pro-actively take initiative and be a team player, as well as work independently under the supervision of the project lead. The candidate must also demonstrate strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Disparities Solutions Center.
  • Role model behaviors that reflect a philosophy that values team-based work, demonstrating respect for diverse perspective and value that each member of the team offers to the effort.
  • Should be well versed in working with Microsoft office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, SPSS and Endnote.
