POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Director will primarily focus on successfully leading highly complex distribution implementations and design. Recognized technical authority in the areas of Material Handling Systems (MHS), Control Systems, and Warehouse Management. This will require a strong emphasis on managing multiple stakeholders and proactive communication. Extensive industry experience, along with the ability to practice judgment, to plan and accomplish company goals will be a priority.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead sophisticated distribution center improvements and spear the deployment of extra-large complex projects with $60M+ project financials
  • Maintain alignment across Fortna and client project leaders, stakeholders, and executive sponsors throughout the course of a client program lifecycle or operational performance initiative
  • Define workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships of a project team
  • Mitigate scope, schedule, and cost risks both internally and with clients
  • Lead the development of departmental budgets and business plans for functional areas
  • Exhibit expert level leadership skills demonstrated by developing organizational goals and objectives
  • Set standards and coach others while reinforcing the company's high degree of integrity
  • Engage in activities that demonstrate an ability to proficiently lead the business
  • Apply superior understanding of supply chain concepts, processes, and trends in the design and implementation of solutions
  • When supporting the design and implementation of solutions, leverage expert experience and knowledge to evaluate and compare material handling alternatives and technologies
  • Understand specific capabilities within complex supply chain applications and leverage advanced knowledge to assist with design and implementation efforts
  • Oversee difficult concepts and complexity of Fortna project governance activities and tools in the delivery of projects
  • Utilize advanced consulting skills to facilitate resolution of issues
  • Oversee the hiring and training of associates, and manage change across stakeholder groups
  • Drive innovation related to the conceptualization of new as well as improved tools, templates, and methodologies
  • Cultivate an environment where robust learning objectives are set to align training, coaching, and experience to assure critical competencies, skills, and knowledge are developed
  • Provide leadership as a Resource Manager as business needs require
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels
  • Conceptualize, develop, and deliver presentation material at trade shows

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Work Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 13+ years of experience or 15+ years of work experience in one of the following disciplines: industrial, mechanical, or civil engineering, business or industrial or construction management.

Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification

Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:
  • Expert business acumen competencies, demonstrating extensive understanding and exceptional skills with proven history of application
  • Paramount level experience in project management
  • Exceptional level of understanding how to manage both directly and indirectly across multiple workstreams and projects
  • Demonstrated high-level ability to manage remotely
  • Leads by example through developing broad project leadership that effectively assigns responsibilities and sets clear expectations
  • Extensive ability in listening, verbal, and written communication competencies
  • High understanding of solving complex problems as well as teaching and developing others
  • Expert ability to develop and manage budgets across multiple projects, workstreams, and programs
  • High-ranking ability to proactively engage with Project Accountants in the management and communication of the budgets
  • Exceptional time management competencies
  • Expert presentation development and delivery skills
  • Superior client management and project leadership skills
  • Highly proficient understanding of PM software, Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint

Other Qualifications:
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ability to perform essential requirements of the position

Education: Master's Degree, preferably: Engineering, Project Management, or Business
