Purpose and Scope:

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Company and gain exposure to all areas of the organization, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, purchasing, and sales. Candidate will perform engineering design function in support of the Sargent product development program.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing
  • Review designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles
  • Write test plans and test reports in support of new programs
  • Interact with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements
  • Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
  • Directs designers and drafters in design concepts and optimization
  • Provide direction and assist in qualification test programs
  • Employees will participate in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100D and/or ISO-9001:2015 requirements.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and 3 years’ experience as a project/design engineer, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field and minimum 5 years’ experience as a project/design engineer OR
  • Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 10 years’ experience as a project/design engineer
  • Intermediate knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer or CREO preferred)
  • Intermediate experience in component design layout and modeling, detail design and drafting per ASME Y14.5, analysis, and qualification test. Understanding of manufacturing and assembly methods.
  • Intermediate experience w/ stress analysis, FEA, tolerance stackups, and material and process control.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Up to 10% travel
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience:
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer preferred) and design tools and methods such as Ansys or Mechanical FEA, fatigue analysis, system performance analysis, weight analysis, and material and process control.
  • Technical program experience including NRE estimates, proposals, RFQ evaluation, trade studies, requirements development, supplier evaluations, partnering opportunities, and cost and schedule analysis.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
  • Self-motivated drive and endurance with history of program success.
  • Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects.
