COMPANY OVERVIEW

Mechanical Specialties Contractors performs fabrication and installation of High Purity and Process Piping Systems for industrial, scientific & pharmaceutical customers.

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall project supervision of installing Process Piping and High Purity Orbital welding for our microelectronic / semiconductor & biopharmaceutical customers. Our PM's work daily on site in the field assuring their field personnel and materials are aligned to meet the customer expectations for on-time and on-budget project completion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Participate in and approve all major technical cost, scheduling, and performance decisions that impact their projects.
  • Daily supervision of tasks to be performed and management of field operations personnel
  • Establish effective internal and external lines of communication with customer to assure project success. Keep all parties informed of project changes that affect their areas of responsibility.
  • Manage site compliance and safe work practices daily at the job site to meet customer expectations.
  • Administer all contract matters. Represent the company and project clients and vendors; acting as the focal point for contract negotiations, work performance, schedules, budgets and communication in general.
  • Monitor and direct the progress of each project to assure conformance to schedules and budgets. Coordinate all internal and external action plans. Anticipate problems and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date cost/budget records to complete and schedule reports. Keep Project Director informed of project status and control.
  • Complete project closeout on time and to the customer's satisfaction. Generate final documentation and follow-up on final payments.
  • Coordinate with purchasing agent to ensure the cost-effective purchase of all materials meeting the quality, technical, budget and schedule requirements of the project.
  • Purchase certain specialty items directly for the project when appropriate.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager / Project Executive with recommendation for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years of Piping/Orbital Welding Project Management
  • 5 years of managing personnel in field
  • Experience communicating, negotiating and building rapport with customers & GC's
  • Microsoft products experience including MS Project
  • Competent at reviewing and interpreting blueprints
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel and Microsoft Project)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
  • Familiarity with project management/document control software.
  • Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to commute to field locations. The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations.

The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and also travel to field locations as needed.

While visiting field locations, the employee may be required to work outdoors, be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical and electrical parts; high, precarious places; dust, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight; cold and heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
