Job Description

The University of Missouri seeks a Proposal Manager who is experienced in managing and facilitating faculty teams writing narratives for large, interdisciplinary, multi-investigator proposals. This position will support the Strategic Proposal Development Services team, housed within the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED), and its efforts to develop and submit complex proposals for priority funding agencies. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple competing projects that are deadline and milestone driver. The successful candidate will work closely with SPDS colleagues and college or school partners to plan and implement strategies that ensure production of compliant and competitive proposals. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of SPDS.

Key Duties Performed By This Position Will Include

The Proposal Manager will focus on delivering efficient, effective services in the area of proposal development and help to develop competitive and compliant applications for externally sponsored research.

* Provide project management driven by timelines, progress, action items, and deadlines.
* Support center proposals, training proposals, faculty improvement and instrumentation proposals, and interdisciplinary strategic proposals that are aligned with the University of Missouri's research mission.

In Addition, The Individual Will

The successful candidate will need the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand strategic objectives to establish proposal development strategies that will meet current and future research needs.

* Work with the primary faculty's unit to identify and provide support needed for large, university led proposals and limited submission strategy. Guides the development of large, interdisciplinary proposals to external funding agencies.
* Provides training and assistance for faculty and staff in identifying funding opportunities and preparing and submitting large proposals, in partnership with the Connect, Research Development Network, and Office of Sponsored Projects Administration.
* Coordinates internal proposal review processes.
* Conduct post-submission reviews and reviewer feedback analysis to provide feedback to writing teams and recommendations for revision in anticipation of resubmission to the same or a different competition.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Salary

$55,000 - $75,000

Grade: GGS 11

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4 years of experience. APMP or similar certification preferred.

Other Information

Strategic Proposal Development Services (SPDS) is an ORED unit that will provide supplementary and complementary services to PIs and academic units to plan, write, and submit large, multi-investigator, interdisciplinary proposals for priority funding agencies. SPDS coordinates closely across ORED and with academic units to ensure that services are not duplicated. SPDS is highly responsive to faculty and staff requests and works proactively in service to faculty and research teams.

Positions may be eligible for full-time remote work.
