Job Description:

Responsible for developing and teaching custodial cleaning operation procedures including technical training, equipment training, proper floor and carpet care and various hard surfaces procedures. Develop, maintain, and distribute a training manual and edit per technical or operational updates to all Building Services custodial employees. Establish and maintain a training rotation schedule. Establish and maintain training records on new hires and current employees. Train employees on Environmental Health & Safety's Blood-Borne Pathogen and other organic waste, and animal contact. Train custodial workers on cleaning procedures, cleaning chemical use, classroom cleaning, restroom cleaning, safety training, floor care procedures (stripping, neutral rinse, waxing, burnishing), hard surfaces and carpet training program. Train the labor crew of proper lifting and safety precautions. Ensure that training aligns with technology, industry changes, and is forward thinking.

Responsible for tracking training development for all Building Services Department employees on all technical, general cleaning and project work. Develops and implements new sessions to meet changing re-training needs. Assist the department in formulating charts, survey reports and updating supply data charts. Develop and facilitates new employee orientation training sessions. Responsible for supplementing supervisory training on reimbursable work orders, assigning work orders, closing work orders, and entering timecards.

Responsible for performing Quality Control Inspections (Smart Inspect) according to a predetermined schedule of all assigned building, evaluating the effectiveness of multi-level custodial training program. Maintain and update custodial work loading software. Responsible for running and reviewing Smart Inspect reports, accessing how Smart inspection affect Building Services' training needs, and making appropriate training adjustments. Reports custodial repair/safety violations found during inspection tours to management for corrective action. Operates a state vehicle.

Responsible for researching and introducing new cleaning equipment, chemicals, and techniques. Works with vendors and suppliers to ensure optimum utilization of resources. Schedule vendor demonstrations, product testing, assessments.

Performs other duties as directed, assigned, or required.

Drives a State UF vehicle which requires incumbent possess and maintain a valid class “E” Driver's License.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:30PM (40 hours per week). The incumbent is expected to be periodically available during off hours to perform training to support various day and night shift employees. The incumbent will periodically travel to conferences and meetings, representing Building Services and Facilities Services. Some overtime might be required. Management retains the right to modify schedule and/or days. The position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy. The position is scheduled to serve on the Emergency CallBack Rotation Schedule as appropriate

Expected Salary:

Expecting starting salary $42,420 yearly based on experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Broad knowledge of commercial custodial cleaning principles and techniques in a large academic setting.
Knowledge of the American Physical Plant Association (APPA), and International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA).

Effective verbal and written communications in a diverse workforce.

Ability to train on broad and specific custodial-related topics in a cohesive and comprehensive manner.

Knowledge of building construction design and safety requirements.

Ability to conduct building inspections.

Ability to collect, review and verify data relating to building inspections.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Professional custodial certification from 3rd party such as the Cleaning & Maintenance Institute (CMI), International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA), or Florida School Plant Management Association (FSPMA).

Familiarity with building trades, construction methods and materials, HVAC systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
