The exciting world of caterpillars building construction products division and the lean value stream approach are thriving in our Clayton, NC facility where we manufacture and assemble industry-leading products such as the Small Wheel Loader and Backhoe Loader! As a Quality Engineer focused on In-Process Validation (IPV) you will provide general support to the Clayton, NC Operations team.

Specifically in this role you can expect to:

• Work with suppliers regarding defective material
• Help drive to root cause for defects and ensure corrective actions are in place
• Follow up and close Quality Alerts for defective material
• Provide line support for various tests
• Machine/system troubleshooting (electrical, electronic, hydraulic, communications, etc.)
• Work closely with engineering to prepare factory systems for current product and NPI (new product introduction)

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

• Problem So lv ing: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.
• Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

• Hands on experience troubleshooting complex electrical systems and/or components, including reading electrical schematics
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related technical field
• Hands on experience working on and troubleshooting other complex machine systems (hydraulic, engine, powertrain)
• Experience with Small Wheel Loader (SWL) Bill of Material configurations
• Manufacturing experience
• Experience documenting standard work
• Validation of out of process work confirming safety and quality exceed expectation
• In Process Validation (IPV) and/or test experience
• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and react to changing priorities
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees
