RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce is seeking a R&D/NPI Medical Device Project Manager in Carlsbad, CA. This position is 50% remote and 50% onsite. Project Planning Duties:
  • The R&D/NPI Medical Device Project Manager ensures program scopes include global input from all functional areas including Engineering, Marketing, Clinical, Sales, Training, R&D, Operations, Quality, Legal, Regulatory, and Purchasing
  • Works with functional management to resolve ambiguity and ensure alignment
  • Works with functional management to ensure that appropriate resources are identified and allocated
  • Identifies key stakeholders and understands their expectations for a successful project
  • Develops dependency diagrams among tasks and builds integrated schedules and budgets
  • In this role, the R&D/NPI Medical Device Project Manager optimizes schedules to identify critical path(s), major risks, and mitigation plans
  • Publishes and gains agreement on the baseline integrated schedule
Project Execution Duties:
  • Drives internal and external teams to execute on tasks and deliverables
  • Monitors progress on schedule, budget and technical output
  • Develops a sense of urgency when key deliverables are jeopardized
  • The R&D/NPI Medical Device Project Manager facilitates problem solving and meetings to address obstacles
  • Holds team members accountable to program commitments
  • Relies on team member expertise when faced with critical decisions
  • Identifies potential plan deviations and prepares impact analysis for key
stakeholders
  • Facilitates communication to key stakeholders on project performance
  • Proactively manages risks and employs strategies to address
  • As a R&D/NPI Medical Device Project Manager, this role provides coaching and training to teams on Project Management best practices
  • Fosters teamwork; strives to maintain an environment of openness and trust


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering degree (ME, Biomedical, EE)
  • Project Management Certification preferred
  • 5+ years of experience driving medical device product development projects
  • Project management experience in a phase-gate system
  • Project management experience with offsite teams and engineering service providers
  • Orthopedic medical device experience
  • Must have successfully managed multiple projects from conception through commercialization
  • Ability to manage teams comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to Software, Regulatory, Hardware, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Marketing
  • Experience managing complex medical technology development programs
  • Exposure to systems engineering, concept engineering, QFD, hardware and software development, validation and systems integration would be preferred
  • Technically savvy; Must be able to discuss, understand and make decisions regarding a wide array of engineering disciplines and complex technical/logistical issues
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and Marketing to ensure that project scopes and requirements are clearly defined and executable
  • Must possess the communication and personal skills required to resolve ambiguous and conflicting requirements
  • Must have leadership skills and managerial courage to maintain project focus and alignment on established deliverables
