Position Summary

Under the general direction of the District Maintenance/Fleet Manager, the Area Maintenance/Fleet Supervisor manages the operation and maintenance of mobile assets for the Ready Mix shop and maintenance team.

Essential Functions.

Preferred Requirements

  • Responsible for the management of two or more locations supporting multiple mixer trucks, vehicles and loaders
  • Oversees the day to day operations of fleet, shop, production, distribution, maintenance, customer and shop service functions
  • Assigns, monitors, and reviews the progress of accuracy of assigned work and deadlines
  • Provides leadership guidance to customer service, production, sales, and quality control team members
  • Supervises staff, conducts performance appraisals, trains and develops subordinates, processes promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling
  • Responsible for creating and reinforcing a culture which focuses on safety, efficiency, and the development of quality people
  • Performs accident investigations and job inspections and ensures quality standards and a safe work place
  • Responsible for organizing safety meetings and scheduling new employee safety training
  • Ensures the consistent application of organizational and business unit policies and procedures.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Rules and Regulations and assures facility compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA and other regulatory agencies
  • Maintains knowledge of lock out/tag out procedure required during certain procedures
  • Responsible for establishing relationships with the equipment and parts suppliers
  • Works with management team on purchasing goods and services and performs purchasing and price comparisons
  • Analyzes business reports to improve key performance indicators related to labor and equipment
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key departments and Company affiliates to ensure cooperation and team work
  • Other duties as requested
Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6-8 years Mobile Equipment Maintenance Experience,
  • Ready Mix Maintenance experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years experience in lieu of industry work experience preferred
  • Trade School or related mechanical / technical certification preferred
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) Preferred
  • Safe driving record
  • Minimum 5 years in supervisory or management position preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge heavy truck maintenance in the transportation sector and concrete production methods and processes, or closely related
  • Organizational and follow-through skills
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills required
  • Computer/PC literacy required. Experience with EAM/CMMS systems a plus
  • Decision making and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to interact with all levels of Company personnel and outside vendors/suppliers
  • Ability to react quickly to unforeseen situations
  • Work requires the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Physical requirements include lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds from ground to waist is required, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting (must be able to sit for extended periods of time up to 8 hours), walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, client/customer contact, squatting to perform the essential functions. Additional requirements include the ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Most time is spent in a Heavy Equipment Shop setting with periodic outside assignments that may require work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
