Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a Public Trust Clearance to support Kadiak and our government customer in Washington, DC.

Position Overview:
Kadiak, LLC, is seeking a Full time Registered Nurse in support of the Department of State Primary location of performance is Department of State main building, 21st and Virginia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20520, or other State Annexes in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Work Hours: Services are to be provided between the hours of M-F 0700-1700 local time. Remain Flexible to meet agency needs. May entail travel Monday through Friday unless specified otherwise.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • The Registered Nurse assists physicians with treatment; assesses patient health problems and needs, develops, and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records, and assists patients in complying with prescribed medical regimen, may specialize as an operating room nurse, psychiatric nurse, nurse anesthetist, industrial nurse, nurse practitioner, and clinical nurse specialist. This nurse may supervise LPNs and Nursing Assistants.
  • Plans and provides comprehensive nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, uses judgment in assessing patient conditions, interprets guidelines, and modifies patient care as necessary, recognizes and determines proper action for medical emergencies, e.g., calls physician or takes preplanned emergency measures.
  • Prepares hospital or nursing home patients for tests, examinations, or treatment; assists in responding to emergencies; records vital signs and effects of medication and treatment in patient charts; and administers prescribed medications and intravenous feedings.
  • Observes patients, evaluates and records significant behavior and reaction patterns and participates in group therapy sessions.
  • Participates in all required training and competency assessments according to staffing contract and policies and Sops to maintain ability to work in assigned clinic.
  • Provides healthcare services directly to clients at assigned OHC locations according to scope of practice for state license, policy and SOP which may include the following:
  • Performs components of physical exams which may include, but are not limited to, Vital signs, height and weight, Audiometry, Vision testing, ECG, Spirometry, Phlebotomy, and TB skin testing. Documentation of all clinical data on all required forms.
  • Provides immunizations according to Koniag policies, SOPs, and Standing Order
  • Provide non-emergency care to clients
  • Provides emergency response and care according to BLS/AED/ACLS protocol, policies and SOPs
  • Administers medications according to orders from outside prescribing MD (including allergy immunotherapy) only if orders have current approval from local MD
  • Provides and reviews destination specific travel information to clients
Education and Related Experience
  • Current ACLS is required.
  • Current C PR/BLS is required.
  • Current registration
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • All Registered Nurses with one or more years of experience will achieve and maintain ACLS Certification.

Requirements
  • Pre-employment background check mandatory
  • Valid Passport is preferred
  • You must have the ability to pass a Tier 4 investigation and a Public Trust
  • Proficiency in all skills reported to perform clinical services listed above including phlebotomy, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, and basic life support.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain the level of security clearance needed.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the clinical nursing duties (e.g., CPR performance, responding immediately to an emergency, carrying a thirty (30) pound Emergency Go-Bag, etc.) without accommodation as well as free from any communicable disease(s).
Working Environment & Conditions:
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
