Reliability Engineer (Controls)

We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will help us implement and maintain a test control automation and a data collection system for our product verification facilities, allowing us to control, monitor and test multiple Hypertherm systems simultaneously. Your ability to work across boundaries with design, production, and technical service teams throughout the organization, will help us to complete key projects for 2021 and beyond. As a Reliability Engineering Team, we are responsible for:

  • Implementing Design for Reliability (DFR) practices into early product design work, Assisting our engineers and design teams to craft product specifications and product test acceptance criterion
  • Design and implementation of verification tests on Hypertherm products to ensure Hypertherm offerings exceed Customer reliability/robustness in service.
  • Frequent work with engineering, statistical and experimental data sets. Analysis of these data drive effective design and business decisions.

Who you are and the experience you will bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering with 5-10 years of engineering experience, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated comprehension and hands-on application of PLC programming, experimental controls, and test automation.
  • Ability to design, conduct, document and analyze hands-on engineering tests by developing fixtures and controls.
  • Proficient with data analysis and reporting for large datasets (i.e.: SQL database, TDMS files, PowerBI).
  • Ability to apply statistical tools and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work with engineering technicians and provide them written and verbal direction. Basic engineering instrumentation knowledge such as flow measurements, thermal measurements, sensors, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems/software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization. Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to work within a team environment.

Preferred experience to differentiate you:
  • Significant experience with building, deploying, and maintaining test automation and data systems (SCADA).
  • Experience with Beckhoff PLCs/TwinCAT, NI LabVIEW, Microsoft SQL server, and PowerBI.
  • Electrical/Circuit design
  • Proficiency in common programming languages/scripting American Society of Quality Certified Reliability Engineer (ASQ-CRE), Six Sigma certification, or related professional certification.
  • Experience with New Product Development, working within a multi-disciplinary team (marketing, supply chain, customer service, or other engineering disciplines).
  • Experience leading a technical project or product development process and an understanding of industrial design and commercialization.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentorship in a team environment. Experience working with connected products/data science to improve product reliability, quality, cost, and functionality.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related area.
