The Department of Surgery is the third largest Department within Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). We are committed to the education and development of excellent surgical clinicians, incorporating the skills, knowledge and competencies essential for providing a high standard of care to residents across the state of Indiana and beyond. As a Research Analyst, you will provide dedicated support to the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering (ICRME) which is a multidisciplinary research center focused on the development of novel technologies that regenerate cells and tissues affected by age, disease, damage or congenital effects, ultimately leading to wound care and healing for patients in Indiana and beyond. The center is comprised of more than 30 scientists and staff working to reduce the number of amputations in the state of Indiana and deliver critically acclaimed science.

Job Summary

Fundamental Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex and intricate laboratory experiments while following research techniques and procedures.
  • Develops procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership.
  • Prepares research reports or analyses for projects.
  • Maintains safety records and ensures safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Provides guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations.
  • May develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects and related work.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
Preferred
  • Master's degree in a related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 3 years of related work experience

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Equipment uitilized: Bright field and flourescent & confocal microscope, microtome, embedding center, tissue processor, PCR, Western Blot, and cell culture.

Note: Selected candidate must be up-to-date on all immunizations and will be required to complete a pre-employment health screening.
