Research Associate, Applications

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-friendly Research Associate to join our Applications team within the Commercial Organization. The RA will support efforts involving data generation projects, assist the team with external NGS data troubleshooting as well as other team support activities. To be successful in this position, candidates must have a background in molecular biology techniques and principles, experience in NGS is a plus and must have strong organizational and communication skills. They will be expected to execute on experiments and data generation in the lab. Furthermore, the candidate will be responsible for supporting the management of the laboratory through inventory, ordering and coordination of equipment to ensure the team meets project timelines and objectives. This position has a high potential for career growth and exposure to a variety of new skills and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Execution of sample prep, library prep and sequencing prep workflows
• Assist with analysis and interpretation of DNA sequencing data
• Documenting and maintaining experimental procedures and project documentation
• Laboratory management and coordination to ensure timely project deliverables
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:

• BS or higher in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, or equivalent
• Proficiency in Excel and JMP (or equivalent) experience is necessary
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with biochemistry and molecular biology techniques such as DNA library preparation, DNA sequencing, Sample Preparation, PCR/qPCR
• Laboratory management experience is highly desired
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required
• Has past experience of success with multi-tasking in a fast-paced startup environment
• Ability to effectively and clearly communicate with team members and cross functional groups
