About 71% of the Earth surface is water, and aquatic environments are strongly enriched in blue light and deprived of red light. How photosynthetic organisms living in freshwater or marine environments harness light quality and quantity information is an open question. This project will involve the in vivo analysis of photoreceptor abundances, interactions and transcriptional activity, making use of the extensive molecular tool box developed by the Farre lab. This is a collaborative project with biophysicists and mathematical modelers and will provide broad exposure to different disciplines. The Farré lab provides a robust training environment for postdoctoral associates seeking careers in academia and industry and applicants interested in a dynamic, positive research experience are especially encouraged to apply.
