Retreat Center Coordinator
Allerton Park and Retreat Center

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has an opening for a Retreat Center Coordinator at Allerton Park and Retreat Center near Monticello, Illinois. Reporting to the Retreat Center Manager, this individual will oversee the day-to-day Retreat Center operations and assist with implementation of standards set forth by Retreat Center Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for sales, contracting, planning, invoicing, and executing all weddings, conferences, retreats, and special events in order meet revenue targets
- Assisting in the creation, organization, and execution of Allerton-hosted special events, including the following annual events- Winter Women's Retreat; Valentine's Weekend; Plant Sale; Spring Soiree; Themed Dinners; An Evening with Poe; and Holidays
- Obtaining proper quotes and invoices from vendors to set-up purchase orders and payments
- Scheduling Event Staff (Set-up, security, bartenders, front desk)
- Responsible for alcohol ordering, inventory, and stocking
- On-site event management
- Acts as point of contact and oversees caterers and other on-site vendors to ensure consistently high-quality food and service
- Maintains high standards of quality control in all aspects of hospitality service including event execution, food and beverage service, and the appearance of event facilities
This position will be required to work evenings as needed, as well as weekend events.Required education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field.
- One year of professional work experience in Events Planning, Conference Management, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or any other related field.
- Demonstrated experience in hospitality and sales
Preferred education, experience, and qualifications:
- 4 years' experience in the hospitality industry.
- Broad understanding of and experience with large research universities, faculty, and students.
- Extensive experience with the food and beverage industry with emphasis on catering services.
Successful candidates will have the following:
- Broad understanding of marketing techniques used to attract meetings weddings and events.
- Attention to detail, as well as strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
Appointment Information:This is a full-time Civil Service Events Administrator Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after
December 6, 2021. Salary is commensurate with experience.
