Reports to the Senior Vice President of Safety & Risk Consulting

Description

Under general guidance, provides direct support to clients in-person and remotely, and provides resource development and research support to the SVP - Safety & Risk Consulting. Requires thorough knowledge of safety and health practices, and OSHA and DOT regulations. Client workshop development and logistics coordination, content development for newsletters, blogs and resource documents in addition to analytical reports. This position requires frequent use of independent judgment and initiative to triage risk management client needs and provide services appropriate to meet their needs and work within our guidelines. This is a developmental position with the expectation of engaging in continuing education and obtaining professional credentials to expand capabilities.

Requirements

  • Assist with departmental communications to external and internal clients
  • Analyze loss data and create reports, suggestions and consultative content to address
  • Create PPT's, proposals, resource documents and reports
  • Contribute technical content for newsletters, blogs and client notifications
  • Contribute to and maintain library of resource materials
  • Assist and/or manage communication and logistics for risk management educational events
  • Act as a point of contact for clients
  • Utilize regulatory and safety best practices knowledge to consult with clients
  • Make field visits of client locations to deliver consultative safety services
  • Lead safety and risk management educational sessions to external and internal clients

• Ability to quickly grasp and understand insurance industry terminology.

• Ability to write routine reports, develop standardized documents, and draft business correspondence.

• Effective time management skills, including ability to prioritize and organize workload.

• Effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to visitors, clients, and employees.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, and technical procedures.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Ability to read and comprehend complex instruction, correspondence and memos.

• Ability to write, proof-read or edit professional correspondence.

• Ability to make sound judgments.

• Ability to organize and prioritize workflow.

Computer Skills:

• General: Word, Excel, PPT, email (Outlook), Internet, database

• Industry Specific: Applied EPIC Agency Management System

Preferred Education, Experience, and Licensing:

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Risk Management or related field

• 2-3 years safety experience in the insurance or private industry sector

• Willingness to study for and complete a Maine Property & Casualty Producer license

Position Type:

This is a full-time position. Office hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. but the position will frequently require work outside those hours. Routine local travel to client facilities & jobsites, other offices and events.
