Job Description:
***$3/hour differential for hours worked. $200 commuting bonus if driving 30+ miles one way. This position is located in a centralized scheduling unit at the Central Nebraska Veterans' Home and is responsible for scheduling a large number of employees in multiple classes for multiple shifts. Under general supervision, is responsible to develop and coordinate direct care and nursing personnel staffing schedules, prepare vacation posting schedules, and coordinate the day-to-day staff schedule. The work schedule for this position is Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Coordinate day to day nursing staffing schedules for three nursing shifts to ensure that required staff is on duty to provide quality care to our Veterans. This includes receiving and acting upon employee requests for leave, staff reassignment between units, contacting on-call staff, and contacting and/or directing employees to work overtime and communicating with mangers about scheduling gaps. Development and coordination of staffing schedules; assist with preparation of vacation posting schedules per the Labor Contract; compile records, review data; attend new employee orientations and provide scheduling information and schedule employees to attend required training and in-service training. Answer phones and assist CNVH staff with questions.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to work under pressure and deadlines, interpret and apply policies and procedures, communicate effectively to individuals; analyze a situation and select the appropriate course of action, and set personal work priorities.

Knowledge of: Medical terminology, computer systems, system applications and other office equipment; organization, structure, mission and activities of the Nursing department and facility; standard secretarial/business procedures, business English and business math; and principles and practices of record keeping; sources of information pertinent to the assigned functions.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

Preferred Qualifications: Two years' experience or training in office work and interacting with people. This includes working with computers and computer applications, monitoring and tracking information, exchanging information, and applying policies and procedures. Prefer good written and verbal communication and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
