At AstraZeneca Oncology R&D, we are not afraid to do things differently. Our vision is redefining cancer, redefining our solutions to cancer and restoring patients' lives. In this role, you will join a dynamic and collaborative in vivo biology team in our state-of-the-art Biohub facility in Waltham, MA. The primary responsibilities of this position are to build and characterize hematologic in vivo animal cancer models, conduct PKPD and efficacy studies to support our heme R&D portfolio.

What you'll do:

The Department of Biological Engineering in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a creative and highly motivated Scientist to implement our next-generation rapid B cell discovery platforms to progress pre-clinical programs. The successful candidate will add to our team of multidisciplinary and passionate scientists excited by research at the interface between technology and Biology. They will be a well-organized and a highly productive bench scientist that can design and execute experiments efficiently, as well as analyze, interpret and present data.

  • Perform high-throughput cloning of lead antibody panels using automation
  • Design and implement high-throughput automated screening assays for specificity using ELISA, next-generation sequencing and/or FACS
  • Use microfluidics to build novel antibody fragment libraries for various display-based systems (such as phage, yeast, and mammalian-display)

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology or related fields with 2+ years of relevant experience in industry (preferred) or academia, or Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience in industry (preferred) or academia.
  • Proven expertise in producing recombinant antibodies, particularly in molecular biology techniques involving cloning, sequencing, PCR and qPCR
  • Hands-on experience in sequence analysis, including NGS-based antibody analysis
  • Ability to execute experiments, develop assays, optimize protocols, and interpret experimental results
  • Strong communication skills in a team environment and an ability to learn and embrace new technologies quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadline-driven workflows

Desired:

  • Comfortable with using automation for high-throughput sample handling
  • Experience with flow-cytometry, protein purification and FACS
