The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road!

Diagnostics Tech Lead will embody GM behaviors and competencies and be proficient in designing automotive embedded systems. As a Diagnostic Technical Lead, you will design innovative diagnostics solutions around diagnostics fault management, diagnostics commands, OTA programming interfaces using cutting edge technologies on GM's latest Ultifi software platform. You will technically drive cross functional solutions owning complete delivery of features.

You should be passionate about software development and eager to grab and solve challenges with focus on built-in quality. You should be familiar with industry standard tools within Android, QNX or AUTOSAR be proficient in coding embedded applications in Java/Kotlin/C++/C on Android/QNX or AUTOSAR microcontroller. This role requires in-depth knowledge of various design patterns, UML diagrams and architecture tools to implement them. You should be adept in diagnostics ISO14229 UDS/ODX standards and other automotive diagnostics protocols.

As a Technical Lead, you will be technically leading the software launch activities which include development of new features and functionalities, vehicle level issue analysis to root cause, fix by coordinating various teams: GM vehicle manufacturing plants, Tier 1 suppliers and internal (Verification, Software engineer) team members. This role needs quality consciousness, ability to work around the obstacles and find the right solution in a short timeframe. Excellent understanding of the embedded system requirements, Inter ECU communications, stringent timing requirements for startup scenario are essential to this role.

You should be nimble to change as we adopt Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) in the software organization.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics Technical Lead will design software to handle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs), Diagnostic Command IDs (DIDs), Input Output control IDs (IOCIDs) , Routine IDs (RID)
  • Lead, design and develop functionality and enhancements for GM Infotainment system's software
  • Have proven track record in design and development of embedded system and software
  • Technically Evaluate proposals from Tier 1 suppliers for feasibility, correctness, and completeness
  • Expertise on software development in C/C++ for our QNX based platforms, Java for our Android, C and AUTOSAR for our VIP platform
  • Good understanding of diagnostics on CAN and automotive Ethernet
  • In depth understanding of ISO14229 UDS/ODX protocol stacks and various test methodologies
  • Lead the team on technical aspects. Collaborate with Product owners and internal/external stakeholders to help plan and prioritize features, understand program expectations, and identify risk
  • Hands on troubleshooting not only existing complex technical problems but also anticipate possible upcoming issues and propose technical solutions
  • Always be on top of new technologies in market and be open to design solution around them to drive cost down
  • Participate in variety of software and ECU (Electronic Control Unit) testing including unit testing, integration testing, bench end to end testing and in-vehicle test
  • Deliver quality software by involving in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews
  • Lead the technical discussions and communicate with internal and external teams, stakeholders effectively
  • Work with System architects and System Engineers to develop and clarify requirements
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining design documents, filling DFMEA (Design for Failure Mode Analysis), Requirements Traceability matrix etc

  • Define a reusable application framework for General Motors' Infotainment systems that scales from low end vehicles to high end luxury models
  • Take initiatives and generate technical solutions including develop functional and nonfunctional requirements

Required Skills
